Women in the Military: What do Women Get from the Military? (Scott)
1. Education: military provides all of their members with 100% tuition coverage at universities and colleges. Regardless of rank, the entire college is paid for by the government.
2. Healthcare: healthcare is something military members never have to worry about. All medical, dental, eyes
3. Pride in work: knowing that you are defending your country with honor and respect is one of greatest satisfaction you could have.

SSgt Angelyn Dominguez is a Crew Chief at Osan Air Force Base in South Korea. While working with all men, Angelyn struggles not only through the competition and pressure of the military, but the constant reminder that she has to work twice as hard to show she is just as good at her job as any man. " Being in the military has given me the strength I've needed to push myself harder than ever. Working with all men helps me be stronger; gives me thicker skin. The men give me a hard time, but it only helps me do push myself farther. My job has taught me to be tough and not take crap from anyone-- to stand up for myself and do what's right. I earned my spot here."

Service Women's Action Network's mission is to transform military culture by securing equal opportunity and freedom to serve without discrimination, harassment or assault; and to reform veterans' to ensure high quality health care benefits for women veterans and their families ("mission SWAN).
SWAN hopes to do a variety of help through reform, media, litigation and community organizing. Their goals is not only to educate legislators and military leaders, but to inform the public through research and speakers. SWAN works with law firms, clinics and schools in order to increase “institutional accountability” (“SWAN Values”). SWAN’s major value is the assisting of service members and veterans who have been mental and physically wounded from sexual assault.
PTSD: National Center for PTSD
Half of all women in the service experience lasting trauma in distressing events. PTSD (Post traumatic stress disorder) is reported in both men and women, but some symptoms are more common in one gender than the other. Sadly, many traumatic events in women are sexual assault—“Sexual assault is more likely to cause PTSD than many other events” (PTSD). Women are also more likely to blame themselves for the experiences that happened. Injury and sexual assault are ranked as the leading experiences in PTSD.
